Launch Event, David Suzuki Foundation’s Delicacies of a Delicate Sea

December 2, 2013
Vancouver Maritime Museum
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Members of the Canadian geoduck industry and representatives of the Underwater Harvesters Association attended the launch of the David Suzuki Foundation’s new seafood magazine, Delicacies of a Delicate Sea. The publication profiles Canadian geoduck along with four other BC seafood species (pink salmon, sturgeon, sturgeon caviar and oysters) as some of BC's finest fisheries and aquaculture operations offering sustainable, and delicious, options for consumers of today and tomorrow. This magazine explores how the diversity of ocean life can be protected, while living within an ecosystem and thriving economically.

The event was attended by about 125 invited guests from across a number of sectors: producers, chefs, retailers/wholesalers, and ENGOs. Some of the city’s leading chefs prepared delicious dishes showcasing the celebrated seafood with Chef Tojo creating a wonderful geoduck chowder and also geoduck sashimi for the guests to enjoy.

Following the launch, the David Suzuki Foundation began direct marketing the magazine throughout western Canada's seafood supply chain in the hope of creating further interest in the featured fisheries and aquaculture operations.
